Breast Center in Freudenstadt Highlights Integrative Cancer Care Approaches

On Friday, October 11, the Breast Center at the Freudenstadt District Hospital will present the latest therapy options and accompanying treatment offers during an information afternoon.

“Looking beyond the conventional is particularly important in cancer care,” explains Peter Seropian, Chief Physician of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Freudenstadt Hospital, which includes the Breast Center. “Good care today no longer consists solely of conventional medical measures but also involves psychosocial therapies and alternative healing methods,” emphasizes the chief physician.

The interdisciplinary collaboration at the Breast Center in Freudenstadt has been practiced for some time, according to a statement from the hospital. During the information afternoon, patients, relatives, and interested parties will have the opportunity to learn more about therapy concepts and treatment options.

The event will kick off with a talk by Ionut Marcel Cobec, Senior Physician at the Freudenstadt Breast Center, discussing a crucial aspect for all involved: What’s new in breast cancer treatment (known in medical terms as mammary carcinoma)? Following this medical insight, the focus will shift to accompanying treatment options and therapy offers.

“Breast cancer is not only frightening for those affected; the diagnosis also represents a profound disruption in the lives of patients, especially if they can no longer engage in their professional or social lives as they did before,” notes Tatjana Wolkow, an oncology and palliative care expert, Breast Nurse.

Helena Schütze, a psycho-oncologist from the psychosocial counseling center in Tübingen, will explain that individuals do not have to face the psychological burdens of a cancer diagnosis helplessly. She will present strategies to help process the cancer experience.

Particularly, chemotherapy and its side effects are a burdensome and frightening aspect of cancer treatment, the statement continues. At the Freudenstadt Hospital, chemotherapy is accompanied by natural healing methods to alleviate side effects.

Claudia Hänle, Senior Physician for Gynecological Oncology, Natural Healing Methods, and Medicinal Tumor Therapy at RKH Ludwigsburg, will discuss how natural remedy management works during or after chemotherapy. Between presentations, there will be a break with coffee, cake, and music. After the talks, guests will have the opportunity to ask questions or engage in discussions.

Complementing the program, professional providers and service providers will showcase their offerings on the topic at exhibition stands. The “Butterfly Group” of the Eigen-Sinn Foundation will also be present, providing support for children and adolescents whose parents are seriously ill, led by Heide Wagner-Aescht.

The information afternoon will take place from 3 PM to 6 PM in the meeting rooms of the hospital on the ground floor. Participation is free, and registration is not required.
