On December 9, 2024, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine will receive a power unit from the Auvere Power Plant in Estonia, capable of supplying electricity to 150,000 people. This announcement followed discussions with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.

In addition to the immediate support, Shmyhal mentioned plans to transfer two more power units to Ukraine by 2025. Estonia has already provided over 140 transformers and more than 300 units of energy equipment to Ukraine through the EU's civil protection mechanism.

Since the onset of the full-scale invasion by Russia, Estonia has committed defense support to Ukraine amounting to €542 million, equivalent to 1.4% of its GDP. Over the next three years, Estonia will continue to support Ukraine with 0.25% of its GDP, totaling €100 million.
