Egypt Pushes for Gaza Ceasefire and Aid Access

CAIRO - November 28, 2024 - Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and enhanced humanitarian aid access due to the severe humanitarian crisis in the region.

This statement followed a phone call between Abdelatty and Tor Wennesland, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, during which they discussed the situation in Gaza and the West Bank.

Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's commitment to alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, announcing a Cairo ministerial conference aimed at boosting humanitarian response on December 2, in partnership with the United Nations.

He expressed hope that the conference would yield outcomes that help relieve the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military actions in Gaza have resulted in over 44,000 deaths and 104,000 injuries, according to the latest health data from the region.
