Ghana's New Government Plans to Resurrect Controversial Anti-LGBTQ Law

Ghana's proposed anti-LGBTQ law, which faced criticism for potentially jeopardizing international financial support, has lapsed following the transition to a new government earlier this month. The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, indicated his intention to revive the bill during a recent visit to Ivory Coast.

In a video posted by Accra-based broadcaster TV3, Bagbin stated that he would take steps to reintroduce the legislation and present it to President John Mahama. The bill's revival is expected to reignite discussions regarding human rights and international relations in the region.
