NASA will host its first live question and answer session from the International Space Station (ISS) on Twitch, February 12, at 11:45 a.m. EST. Astronauts Don Pettit and Matthew Dominick will participate, offering viewers insights into daily life and research in microgravity. The stream aims to engage new audiences with space exploration, showcasing citizen science projects and STEM programs. NASA's Office of Communications Digital and Technology Division developed the event, responding to digital creators' requests for tailored content. The agency previously conducted the first live high-definition broadcast from space in 2006 in cooperation with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. ESA's Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) mission, launched March 17, 2009, delivered data for understanding Earth's gravity field. GOCE data are used in oceanography, solid Earth physics, geodesy, and sea-level research, contributing to climate change studies. European space systems, including satellites and telecommunication networks, are vital for modern societies. ESA and its Member States generate data important for Europe's economic and civil security. Cyber threats are escalating, impacting space-related infrastructures. A February 2022 cyberattack on commercial satellite services in Ukraine led to the shutdown of wind farms across central Europe.
