Norway Sets Electric Car Sales Record

Norway has achieved a remarkable milestone in electric vehicle adoption, with over 96% of new car sales in September being electric. This follows a previous record of 94% in August, indicating a rapid shift away from gasoline and diesel vehicles.

Despite its small market size, Norway leads globally in the percentage of new electric vehicles sold. The trend suggests that the country is on track to meet its ambitious goal of having all new cars be zero-emission by January 1.

In the first nine months, electric vehicles accounted for 88% of sales. In September alone, 12,966 new cars were sold, with 12,495 being electric.

The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling model, comprising 16.3% of sales, followed closely by the Tesla Model 3 at 15.9% and the Volvo EX30 at 6.2%.
