Barcelona-based startup Virmedex is set to launch its second AI-driven video game, 'virECMO', on Monday. This innovative platform is designed to enhance the training of healthcare professionals dealing with respiratory failures requiring ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation).
The project has received support from the Catalan government, totaling €250,000, to foster collaborative research in medical training.
According to CEO Dani Tost, the game allows doctors and nurses to practice their skills in realistic virtual scenarios. Users will engage with virtual characters that pose questions, enhancing both communication and teamwork skills.
The simulation provides real-time feedback, rewarding correct actions and penalizing mistakes, thereby improving learning outcomes.
Virmedex, founded in 2022 and based at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, primarily serves the Anglo-Saxon market, with users from countries like India, South Africa, Thailand, and Germany.
