Germany to Supply Ukraine with 4,000 AI-Powered Drones

Germany will provide Ukraine with 4,000 advanced, AI-controlled drones, resistant to electronic warfare, according to a report by Bild, citing Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

The drones, developed by the German company Helsing, are not conventional kamikaze drones but high-tech aircraft known as 'mini Taurus.' They will be delivered starting in December, with several hundred units each month.

These drones utilize software that protects them from Russian GPS jamming and can autonomously navigate challenging environments. They are designed to identify targets and approach them based on operator instructions.

Helsing's drones are seen as a technological breakthrough, offering higher accuracy than manually controlled combat drones. They are also more cost-effective compared to similar products from the U.S. and Russia.

Following a significant Russian airstrike on Ukraine, Pistorius announced the immediate start of drone deliveries, which could also benefit the Bundeswehr in the future.

Ukraine has also requested Taurus cruise missiles from Berlin, capable of striking targets up to 500 km away, but Chancellor Olaf Scholz has declined this request, fearing it may escalate Germany's involvement in the conflict.
