Noè Ponti: Swimming World Champion and Record Holder Honored at CST

Noè Ponti, the 23-year-old swimming sensation from Ticino, was celebrated with a grand reception at the Centro Sportivo Nazionale della Gioventù (CST) in Tenero on January 15, 2025. This event honored Ponti's remarkable achievements as a three-time world champion and world record holder, following his triumphant return from the Short Course World Championships in Budapest in December 2024.

Ponti's journey in swimming began at the age of six, training at the CST, where he has developed into one of Switzerland's most prominent athletes. During the championships, he set new world records in the 50 meters butterfly with a time of 21.32 seconds and the 100 meters butterfly at 47.71 seconds, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

The evening was attended by fans, sports personalities, and local officials, including Minister Marina Carobbio Guscetti. The event featured speeches by local dignitaries, including President Christian Vitta, who recognized Ponti’s contributions to Swiss swimming. A wooden dolphin, symbolizing his achievements, was presented to him by local artist Manuele De Gottardi.

Looking forward, the CST is set to remain a pivotal hub for Swiss swimming, with plans for a new swimming sports center expected to open in 2029, continuing its legacy of nurturing talent like Ponti.
