NASA: Bus-Sized Asteroid 2025 CN to Pass Earth Safely

Düzenleyen: Uliana S. Аj

On February 13, asteroid 2025 CN, estimated at 8.5 meters in diameter, will pass Earth at a distance of 1.47 million kilometers. Traveling at 30,000 km/h, the bus-sized asteroid poses no threat. Another asteroid, 2025 CL3, 28 meters wide, will also approach, passing at 3.56 million kilometers. Discovered December 27, 2024, asteroid 2024 YR4, with a 2.1% chance of Earth impact on December 22, 2032, is being tracked by the James Webb Space Telescope to refine size and orbit data. Initial estimates place its diameter between 40 and 90 meters. Webb will analyze infrared light emitted by 2024 YR4 to improve size estimation and orbital accuracy, with observations scheduled for early March and May.
