For the first time, NASA astronauts will host a live stream on Twitch from the International Space Station (ISS). The event will be broadcast on www.twitch.tv/nasa, NASA's official Twitch channel, on February 12 at 11:45 PM EST.
The inaugural stream will feature NASA astronaut Don Pettit, currently aboard the ISS, speaking with NASA astronaut Matt Dominick, who has returned to Earth. They will discuss life in space, and viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions.
NASA's goal is clear: to engage directly with space enthusiasts and inspire a new generation of space explorers. "This Twitch event from space is the first of many to come," said Brittany Brown, Director of the Digital and Technology Division at NASA's Office of Communications. "Twitch is one of many digital platforms we are using to reach new audiences and get them excited about space."
The astronauts will highlight citizen science projects, science programs, and various technologies, engineering, and mathematics designed for the Artemis Generation.
It seems that live streaming on Twitch will become a regular occurrence, as Brown stated, "We will be hosting more Twitch-specific streams like this." These streams are likely to become a weekly or monthly event.
