AI-Designed Aerospike Rocket Engine Passes Fire Tests

Düzenleyen: Vera Mo

The AI-designed Aerospike rocket engine developed by LEAP 71 has successfully completed fire tests, according to the company's press service.

The engine provides a thrust of 5,000 newtons and was created by the artificial intelligence system Noyron within a few weeks. Unlike traditional bell-shaped nozzles, the Aerospike engine features a rod positioned at the center of a toroidal combustion chamber. A key challenge remains the cooling of this central rod.

LEAP 71 co-founder Lin Kaiser expressed the company's interest in utilizing the Aerospike engine in space. She noted that Noyron's AI significantly reduces the time required for redesign and iterations post-testing, enabling rapid optimization of engine designs.

Previously, the state corporation Rostec developed an autopilot and thrust control system for the domestically produced Superjet-100 aircraft. Additionally, the Tu-214, another domestically produced aircraft, made its first flight recently.
