Google Messages is enhancing its self-messaging feature with RCS (Rich Communication Services) support. Users can now send high-resolution images, videos, and GIFs to themselves over Wi-Fi and cellular networks, bypassing SMS limitations. This upgrade, initially spotted by Reddit users and confirmed on the beta version of Google Messages, allows for richer note-taking and content saving directly within the app. While not end-to-end encrypted (except for dual-SIM users messaging across SIMs), this update provides a convenient way to store quick thoughts and media. The feature is currently available in the beta version and expected to roll out to the stable channel soon.
