Major Electric Vehicle Pilot Program Launched to Enhance Fleet Operations and Grid Resilience

On December 12, 2024, a significant pilot program was initiated between a leading energy company and Pro Charging Advanced Energy Management to explore the integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into fleet operations. This six-month pilot will utilize over 200 F-150® Lightning® trucks and aims to address barriers to EV adoption while demonstrating their potential to support electric grid resilience.

The pilot will employ established charging depots and more than 150 chargers using Pro's charging software, focusing on efficient charging through pricing signals and demand response strategies. The collaboration seeks to maximize the benefits of EV managed charging programs for both fleet operations and grid efficiency.

Key objectives include testing how dynamic rates and demand response capabilities can balance energy loads, ultimately contributing to more resilient grid operations. Insights from this pilot are expected to inform future fleet EV charging programs and tackle challenges related to technical and commercial aspects of EV adoption.

The initiative has been described as a commitment to advancing sustainable transportation solutions, with potential cost savings for businesses transitioning to electrified fleets. The collaboration aims to deliver actionable insights by integrating connected vehicle data with charging data, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability goals.
