JAKARTA - PT Metrodata Electronics Tbk (MTDL) has expressed optimism for the information and communication technology (ICT) industry in Q4 2024, driven by a significant increase in generative AI investments. These investments have surged from USD 4 billion in 2021 to USD 25 billion in 2023.
President Director Susanto Djaja noted that MTDL has implemented over 100 AI use cases across various sectors in Indonesia, including retail, dairy, FMCG, and financial services. 'For the past decade, we have developed Big Data solutions that serve as the foundation for AI development,' he stated.
In addition to rising demand for business applications and cloud solutions, there is a noticeable trend in AI and cybersecurity technologies. MTDL's Solutions & Consulting business unit reported a 9% quarter-over-quarter revenue increase in Q3 2024. Year-to-date, order bookings for its eight digital solutions pillars rose by 33%.
The distribution unit also showed robust growth, with consumer segment revenues climbing 47% quarter-over-quarter in Q3 2024. Overall, the distribution unit grew 18% year-over-year from January to September 2024, bolstered by a 98% revenue increase in the telco/smartphone segment.
MTDL's total revenue increased by 14% year-over-year to IDR 17 trillion as of September 2024. To accommodate industry growth, MTDL is enhancing its central warehouse capacity in Cibitung, West Java, with a budget of IDR 120 billion, expected to be completed by February 2025.
Furthermore, MTDL has initiated a joint venture with FPT-IS, named PT FPT Metrodata Indonesia, where MTDL holds a 60% stake. This venture aims to offer cybersecurity services, AI solutions, and software development, slated to begin operations in early 2025.
