MSC Cruises' Super Coral Program Recognized for Groundbreaking Coral Restoration Efforts

MSC Cruises has been honored in Condé Nast Traveler's annual "Bright Ideas in Travel" list for its innovative Super Coral Program, centered on coral restoration at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in The Bahamas.

This initiative, run by the MSC Foundation, aims to combat coral decline and protect marine ecosystems. It focuses on studying "super corals"—species resilient to rising ocean temperatures. Within the 64-square-mile protected area, the program nurtures 550 specimens from five coral species and 12 genotypes, all selected for their heat stress resilience.

Researchers believe these super corals could be crucial in enhancing reef resilience against climate change. The accolade follows MSC Cruises' strong showing in the 2024 Readers' Choice Awards, reaffirming its leadership in marine conservation.

Guests aboard the upcoming MSC World America, launching in April 2025, will have the opportunity to witness the Super Coral Program in action at Ocean Cay, blending relaxation with ecological stewardship.
