Sachin Yadav Sets New National Games Javelin Record with 84.39m Throw in Dehradun

Uttar Pradesh's Sachin Yadav has emerged as a prominent figure in Indian javelin, securing a gold medal at the National Games in Dehradun. The 25-year-old athlete achieved a personal best and set a new National Games record with a throw of 84.39 meters. This achievement marks a significant milestone in his career, surpassing his previous best of 82.69m set in Bengaluru last year. Yadav's progression in the sport has been noteworthy. From a 67m throw in 2020, he improved to 74.26m in 2022, and then to 82.69m in 2024. His recent performance places him among India's top javelin throwers, second only to Neeraj Chopra. Despite not yet competing in the Olympics, Yadav's current form surpasses that of many Indian Olympians in the discipline. Under the guidance of coach Naval Singh since 2024, Yadav has shown considerable improvement. While he has not yet qualified for the World Athletics Championships 2025, with a qualifying mark of 85.50m, he is expected to participate in upcoming tournaments to further refine his technique and aim for higher distances.
