National Games Witness Athletic Feats: Yadav, Singh, and Barwal Shatter Records on February 12th

The National Games concluded its track and field events on February 12th with three athletes establishing new Games records. Sachin Yadav of Uttar Pradesh dominated the javelin throw, achieving a distance of 84.39m. This throw surpassed the previous record of 82.23m set in 2015, positioning Yadav among India's top javelin throwers. Pooja Singh of Haryana excelled in the high jump, clearing 1.84m. This secured her a second consecutive gold medal and broke the existing Games record of 1.83m. Singh's achievement highlights her progression in the sport, having overcome initial training challenges. Sawan Barwal of Himachal Pradesh demonstrated his endurance and speed in the 5000m race, finishing in 13 minutes and 45.93 seconds. This performance eclipsed the previous Games record of 13:50.05s, marking Barwal's second gold and second Games record at this event, adding to his prior success in the 10,000m race.
