Global Leaders Discuss AI Development and Regulation at Paris Summit

10 - 11 February - Leading figures from industry, politics, and academia convened in Paris for a two-day summit focused on the advancement and regulation of artificial intelligence. The summit, which began on Monday, drew participation from heads of state, high-ranking officials, and nearly 100 scholars. Ursula von der Leyen, Olaf Scholz, Justin Trudeau, and Kamala Harris were among the attendees.

Fei-Fei Li, a professor at Stanford University and co-founder of World Labs, emphasized the importance of open code and government sectors in contributing to technological progress. She stated that if China aims to reshape the world, it is crucial for all versions of society to have the right to participate in shaping these changes. Li also cautioned against concentrating AI resources within a few companies, highlighting the need for diverse talent from open-source code and interdisciplinary backgrounds.

French President Macron announced a €109 billion investment in AI development over the coming years. This commitment is equivalent to a $500 billion investment, a figure previously cited by U.S. President Trump under his "Stargate" plan.
