Indosat Provides Free Telecommunications Support to Gunung Lewotobi Eruption Victims in Indonesia

On November 20, 2024, PT Indosat Tbk. announced its provision of free telecommunications services to victims affected by the eruption of Gunung Lewotobi Laki-Laki in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Indonesia. Steve Saerang, SVP Head of Corporate Communications, stated that the company aims to ensure connectivity in disaster-affected areas remains operational.

In addition to telecommunications support, Indosat has supplied food, drinking water, maternal and child necessities, medical supplies, and blankets to evacuation centers. Saerang emphasized the company's ongoing coordination with relevant authorities, including the Regional Disaster Management Agency and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Republic of Indonesia, to ensure the assistance is effective and beneficial for those in need.

Furthermore, Meutya Hafid, the Minister of Communication and Digital, urged all telecommunications operators, including Telkomsel and XL Axiata, to provide assistance to communities around Gunung Lewotobi. This request aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to ensure internet and communication services are accessible for the local population.

Meutya encouraged cellular operators to distribute vouchers or data quotas to allow residents to access the internet for educational and informational purposes regarding the situation at Gunung Lewotobi.
