Manama: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF), participated in the second meeting of the Permanent Committee for Women's Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Supreme Council for Women in Bahrain.
Qatar's delegation included Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at MSDF, Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani.
The Committee aims to coordinate efforts among GCC countries on women's issues, strengthen cooperation, unify positions, and enhance the leadership and empowerment of women.
During the meeting, the Committee reviewed the decision from the Ministerial Council session (162) held in Kuwait on November 28, 2024, regarding the joint Gulf action strategy for women's affairs (2024-2030). This strategy was adopted at the tenth meeting of the Ministers of Social Development Affairs in Doha in September 2024.
Additionally, the meeting discussed proposals from the General Secretariat for developing executive procedures for the strategy's implementation, in collaboration with all member states.
The Committee also examined a vision prepared by the GCC General Secretariat in cooperation with Kuwait for a side event focused on women at the upcoming United Nations Commission on the Status of Women meeting in New York City next March. This event aims to highlight the significant contributions of GCC women in modern technology and their role in digital transformation.
