Venezuela's Maduro Proposes Constitutional Reform to Reshape Territory and Economy

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has proposed a constitutional reform aimed at reshaping territorial divisions and diversifying the economy. The announcement was made on Saturday before the National Assembly.

Maduro stated that the reform seeks to build a new democratic state system by incorporating communal, social, and popular power. He emphasized the need to advance towards a diversified economy.

The final draft of the reform is expected within three months and will be subject to a referendum. The initial draft covers approximately 80 articles, including the formalization of communal power and stricter penalties against threats to the government.

Maduro also called for a transformation of the structure of governorships and mayoralties, and demanded that the Constitution explicitly state that Venezuela will not tolerate any form of fascism.
