A mass shooting at two farms near Lusikisiki in South Africa's Eastern Cape has resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals, including a 13-year-old boy, on September 27, 2024. The victims were gathered for a memorial service for a mother and daughter murdered a year ago.
According to police reports, an unidentified gunman opened fire on the crowd of mourners, which consisted mainly of women and children. Among the deceased are 15 women, one man, and the young boy. One additional victim is currently in critical condition, while the number of injured remains unknown.
The local mayor described the incident as shocking, stating, 'The shooter came and shot, killing indiscriminately. Women and children were also among the victims.' Authorities are actively searching for the shooter and investigating the motive behind this brutal act, which has been condemned as senseless and cruel.
