On [Date], the President of the Junta de Extremadura, [Name], announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with Zijing International Energy Company Limited for the development of a green hydrogen production ecosystem.
The project includes the construction of two plants: a photovoltaic plant with a storage system and a hydrogen plant with electrolyzers. The project will also involve the deployment of 20 mobile service stations across Extremadura to supply hydrogen to tractors.
The project is expected to have a significant impact on the region's agricultural sector, reducing costs for farmers by eliminating CO2 emissions.
In addition, the Chinese company Yuneng International New Energy Battery Material has acquired a 467,000 square meter plot in the ExpacioMérida industrial park to build a battery materials manufacturing plant. This project represents the first step in establishing a battery materials production facility in Europe.
The Junta de Extremadura has also partnered with Merlin Properties to build two data center campuses for artificial intelligence and advanced computing. These data centers are expected to be among the largest in Spain and position Extremadura as a key player in the digital revolution.
