OpenAI Wins Legal Battle Over Copyrights, Raises $400M for Robotics

OpenAI, the world's most valuable private AI firm, recently won a significant legal battle when a New York federal judge dismissed a lawsuit alleging copyright infringement concerning the training of its large language models. The ruling, made on November 7, affirmed that OpenAI's use of publicly available data falls under fair use protections.

This victory is expected to enhance OpenAI's future prospects as it continues to invest in AI ventures. The company participated in a funding round for Physical Intelligence, a robotics startup that raised over $400 million, valuing it at more than $2 billion. Notable investors in this round included Jeff Bezos and venture capital firms Thrive Capital and Lux Capital.

Additionally, research indicates that funding for AI and cloud companies in the US, Europe, and Israel is projected to reach $79.2 billion by the end of 2024.
