OpenAI is currently testing a ChatGPT application for Windows, available only to paying users.
Similar to the Mac version, the Windows app allows users to interact with the AI chatbot through a window that can remain open alongside other applications. Quick access is enabled via the Alt+Space shortcut.
The app supports file and photo uploads and provides access to OpenAI's advanced model capable of reasoning. However, it currently lacks features like advanced voice mode.
After the launch of the Mac app in June, a security vulnerability was discovered that stored conversations in plain text. OpenAI has since addressed this issue and now encrypts locally stored data.
While only subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, Team, and Edu can use the Windows application, OpenAI plans to make it available to all users later this year.
