Indonesia Dominates World Pencak Silat Championship 2024

Indonesia has made a remarkable achievement by being crowned the overall champion at the 20th World Pencak Silat Championship held in Abu Dhabi from December 18 to 22, 2024. The Indonesian team showcased their prowess, finishing the competition with a total of 11 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

In the overall standings, Vietnam followed closely behind, securing 10 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals, while Malaysia took third place with 6 gold, 9 silver, and 4 bronze medals. The success continued for Indonesia in the Junior World Pencak Silat Championship, where they again topped the medal tally with 11 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

Singapore ranked second in the junior category, finishing with 9 gold, 3 silver, and 8 bronze medals, while Kazakhstan came in third with 5 gold, 7 silver, and 10 bronze medals. The accomplishments of the Indonesian team were met with praise from the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, who expressed pride in their performance.

Dito highlighted the significance of the event and the support received from the Abu Dhabi government, stating, “Alhamdulillah, the World Pencak Silat Championship was made possible thanks to the support from the Royal Family and the Government of Abu Dhabi.” He further noted that Indonesia's participation is part of a cooperation agreement signed with the UAE Sports Minister in April.
