In January 2025, Madeira experienced significantly warmer temperatures and lower rainfall than average. Data released by the DREM, based on IPMA figures, indicates that the average air temperature was 2° Celsius above normal. The sea temperature was 1.9° Celsius higher than usual. Rainfall was below expected levels. The highest average air temperature was recorded in Porto Moniz (19.1°C), while the lowest was at Pico do Areeiro (8.1°C). Chão do Areeiro showed the largest deviation from the norm, with +3.2°C. The highest rainfall was recorded at Chão do Areeiro (372.5 mm), while Selvagem Grande recorded the lowest (1.1 mm). Santo da Serra showed a negative rainfall anomaly of 183.8 mm compared to the 1961-1990 average. The average sea temperature at Molhe da Pontinha (Funchal) was 19.6°C, 1.3°C above the normal for January.
