Severe Weather Forecast in Romania

On October 5, 2024, the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) of Romania issued a severe weather forecast indicating unstable conditions across the country. The southern half and mountainous regions are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds.

Initially, rain will fall in the southwest and central regions, followed by the north and northeast. A significant drop in temperatures is anticipated after the rainfall and storms, with some areas in Moldova, Muntenia, and Transylvania experiencing temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celsius.

The forecast warns of torrential downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, particularly in the afternoon and night. Rainfall amounts could reach 20 to 30 liters per square meter, with isolated areas exceeding 40 to 50 liters.

In Bucharest, the weather will remain warm but unstable, with variable skies and significant cloud cover expected in the afternoon and night, leading to showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall in the capital is projected to be between 15 and 25 liters per square meter.
