Biden's Ukraine Policy Faces Backlash from Trump Allies

November 19, 2024 - The decision by President Joe Biden to continue support for Ukraine has drawn criticism from Donald Trump and his supporters. They accuse Biden of escalating the conflict, potentially leaving his successor with an untenable situation.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a prominent Trump ally, condemned Biden's approach, stating, "On November 5, the American people voted to end these types of policies; they do not want to fund or fight foreign wars. We want to solve our problems."

Senator Mike Lee echoed similar sentiments on social media, suggesting that liberals favor war as it facilitates a larger government.

David Sacks, a close ally of Elon Musk and a significant Trump donor, also criticized Biden's actions. He remarked, "President Trump received a clear mandate to end the war in Ukraine. What is Biden doing in his final months? Increasing the conflict to leave Trump with the worst situation possible?"

A recent University of Maryland survey indicated that 62% of Republicans want to halt support for Ukraine, contrasting with 63% of Democrats who advocate for continued assistance.

However, not all Republicans share this view. Senator Roger Wicker has been pressing for the administration to ease missile usage restrictions. He stated, "If reports are confirmed, I welcome the prospect of allowing Ukraine to use long-range Atacm missiles. Yet, this does not justify the government's deliberate slowdown of previously authorized aid. This devastating conflict could have concluded favorably for the U.S. and NATO if Biden had heeded bipartisan advice from Congress."

During his campaign, Trump claimed he could resolve the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours due to his rapport with Vladimir Putin. In contrast, Biden remains resolute in providing Ukraine with all approved congressional funding and possibly additional weaponry in his final months in office.
