Tesco Enforces Fuel Container Regulations at Petrol Stations

Oxford, UK - Tesco has reminded customers about its regulations concerning the filling of portable fuel containers at its petrol stations. According to the supermarket, customers are allowed to fill a maximum of two containers with a combined capacity of 30 litres.

A Tesco spokesperson stated, 'Under the Petroleum Consolidation Regulations, we are required to have a policy in place to ensure the safe use of portable fuel containers at our petrol stations.' The company has specified that only authorized plastic or metal containers may be used.

Plastic containers can hold up to 10 litres, while metal containers can accommodate 20 litres. Additionally, containers must be clearly labeled with the words 'PETROL' and 'HIGHLY FLAMMABLE,' along with a hazard warning sign and their capacity in litres.

It is also required that the containers display the manufacturer's name and the date of manufacture. Tesco emphasized that the legal maximum amount an individual can store without notifying the Petroleum Enforcement Authority is 30 litres.
