A rare Ferrari F355 GTS gifted to Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher in 1996 is set to hit the auction block in Paris on February 4, 2025. RM Sotheby's will oversee the sale, which has already generated excitement among collectors and motorsport enthusiasts.
This stunning Blu Le Mans Ferrari, featuring a Pelle Crema leather interior, was the first personal car of Schumacher, a seven-time world champion who has been in a coma since a skiing accident in 2013. The car, registered in Belgium, comes complete with its original manuals and service book, confirming its delivery to Weber Management GmbH, Schumacher's management company at the time.
Schumacher received the car shortly after joining Scuderia Ferrari, just two days post his second-place finish at the European Grand Prix at Nürburgring. Notably, the vehicle is configured with a traditional six-speed manual gearbox, a personal touch that distinguished it from the automated options available.
It is believed that Schumacher used the F355 GTS at his Monaco residence, as evidenced by its first service at Monaco Motors after covering just 1,639 km. Historical documents include a press clipping showing Schumacher driving the car in Monaco.
The current owner, a motor journalist, purchased the car in 2004 and had a memorable interaction with Schumacher, who fondly recalled the vehicle when shown a photo. RM Sotheby's emphasizes that even without its Schumacher history, this Ferrari is a coveted example of one of the most desirable mid-engine sports cars.
