Dubai Unveils "Islands in the Sky": A Futuristic Wellness Oasis Set to Redefine Luxury Tourism by 2028

Dubai, known for its extravagant architecture, is set to unveil another ambitious project: Therme Dubai - Islands in the Sky. This wellness complex, developed by Therme Group, will be located 100 meters above ground in Zabeel Park, near the ruler's palace. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, it promises a unique immersive experience with botanical gardens, pools, and thermal waters, offering stunning views of Dubai's skyline. Each platform will feature different atmospheres, including hot and cold baths, saunas, and hammams, all within a lush, light-filled setting. The venue will also host cultural events and artistic performances. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the complex expected to open in 2028, attracting 1.7 million visitors annually. The project aims to redefine holistic well-being, with 90% of water recycled and 80% of energy needs met by renewable sources. However, the environmental impact of such a large-scale project, including resource consumption and CO2 emissions, raises concerns. Despite eco-friendly claims, the development's sustainability remains questionable, echoing past projects like Palm Jumeirah.
