U.S. and Russian Diplomats Discuss Ukraine and Bilateral Relations in Phone Call

On February 15, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held telephone conversations to discuss preparations for a summit between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, and to address the work of diplomatic missions in both countries, according to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The U.S. State Department reported that Secretary Rubio emphasized President Trump's priority in finding a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. Discussions also covered potential cooperation on various bilateral issues.

During the Munich Security Conference on February 15, U.S. representative Keith Kellogg stated that negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine might require territorial concessions from Russia and limiting its oil revenues, according to Reuters.
