Telia has announced that its 5G network now covers nearly 99% of Norway's population, making it the first operator to achieve nationwide 5G coverage in the country. This milestone is part of Norway's ambition to become the world's most digitalized nation by 2030.

Currently, 1.6 million mobile devices are connected to Telia's 5G network, with many users relying solely on 5G for internet access. The impact of this rollout is evident in cities like Tromsø, where the combination of 5G and 4G has resulted in a 375% increase in average download speeds and a staggering 900% rise in mobile data usage since 2019.

Stein-Erik Vellan, Head of Telia Norway, emphasized that this national 5G network is just the beginning, with many exciting projects in the pipeline. Ericsson is partnering with Telia for this significant technological advancement, while the company continues to upgrade its 4G network to enhance speed and capacity further.
