Eaton has inaugurated a new factory near Oslo, named NordicEPOD, focusing on the production of energy-efficient power modules for data centres.
The facility will manufacture EPODs, which significantly reduce data centre construction time by weeks. Equipped with Eaton's EnergyAware UPS technology, these modules ensure reliable power supply while integrating renewable energy sources.
NordicEPOD aims to produce up to 350 EPODs annually, addressing the surging demand driven by AI applications. The factory, spanning 12,000 square meters, is part of a growing digital hub in the Nordic region, which benefits from abundant renewable energy.
Ciarán Forde, Vice President at Eaton, highlighted the unique features of EPOD technology, including silicon-carbide inverters and SF6-free switchgear. Gisle Eckhoff from CTS Nordics emphasized the collaboration between design expertise and power management technology to rapidly build data centre capacity in response to market needs.
