On January 16, 2025, representatives from China's Communist Party and Japan's Liberal Democratic Party, along with Komeito, convened for the ninth meeting of the ruling parties' exchange mechanism in Beijing. They reached a consensus on the importance of maintaining dialogue and communication despite existing tensions in Sino-Japanese relations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the principles outlined in four political documents governing China-Japan relations. They pledged to work together to comprehensively promote a mutually beneficial strategic partnership that aligns with the demands of the new era.

Additionally, the parties discussed pressing issues such as the discharge of treated nuclear wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean and the importation of Japanese seafood products. They agreed to enhance the implementation of agreements reached by their respective governments and to address each other's concerns appropriately.
