The 2025 RSA ID IQ Report has unveiled significant findings from over 2,000 respondents across 62 countries regarding identity and access management, AI, and the financial toll of data breaches.
According to the report, 66% of organizations experiencing identity-related data breaches classify these incidents as 'severe events' that considerably impact their operations. This aligns with a separate report from Panaseer, which states that 61% of organizations faced a security breach in the past year due to ineffective policies and governance, costing U.S. businesses approximately $30 billion annually.
Despite these challenges, optimism exists regarding AI's potential in cybersecurity. Four in five respondents believe that AI will enhance cybersecurity efforts rather than assist cybercriminals over the next five years. Additionally, 79% of organizations plan to incorporate some form of AI into their cybersecurity strategies within the next year, particularly in highly regulated industries.
The report also highlights the burden of password management, with 51% of respondents indicating they must enter passwords six or more times daily for work. In response to the challenges posed by data breaches, 61% of organizations are considering implementing passwordless authentication within the next year.
Rohit Ghai, CEO of RSA, emphasized the fundamental importance of identity in organizational operations, noting that while the core role of identity remains unchanged, the external factors influencing it are evolving rapidly.
