Call for Universal Digital Rights Declaration at NIPM Conference

On September 27, 2024, T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman of the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), emphasized the urgent need for a 'Universal Declaration of Digital Rights' during the 40th National Conference in Mangaluru, India.

Pai argued that this declaration is essential to protect individuals from the influence of global digital monopolies, which he described as a significant threat to personal rights. He drew parallels to the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights established in 1948, advocating for similar protections in the digital realm.

He stated, 'Digital rights can't be controlled by contract. A global compact is required.' The conference, themed 'India@2047: Human Capital for a Developed India,' highlights the importance of integrating technology in education and creating quality jobs for the youth.

Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer also addressed the need for prioritizing job creation and improving access to quality education, while stressing the importance of resolving the backlog of pending court cases in India.
