Apple to Launch Custom Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Chip for Next-Gen Devices

Apple is reportedly developing a new combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, set to debut in the next-generation Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini in 2025. This move, which aims to replace Broadcom's existing chips, signifies Apple's push for greater control over its hardware components.

The new chip is expected to enhance connectivity between Apple’s smart home devices, enabling faster data synchronization and improved user experiences. Additionally, it may facilitate the introduction of advanced features, such as gesture control via a built-in camera in future Apple TV models.

Beyond the Apple TV and HomePod mini, the chip is slated for integration into iPhones by 2025 and iPads and Macs by 2026. This initiative aligns with Apple's broader strategy to innovate within the smart home ecosystem, including plans for new products like a home hub with a display and a security camera.

While this shift promises enhanced functionality and efficiency, it also carries risks as Apple relies on its untested technology for critical components. Nonetheless, the upcoming devices are set to showcase the capabilities of Apple's proprietary wireless technology.
