Free has unveiled its new 5G Box, a cutting-edge internet service designed to enhance connectivity for users without fiber access. Developed in collaboration with Nokia, this innovative box promises download speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps and upload speeds of 130 Mbps, placing it ahead of competitors in the 5G market.
One of the standout features of the Free 5G Box is its compatibility with Wi-Fi 7, allowing for faster, more stable connections and the ability to connect up to 100 devices simultaneously. Additionally, users will gain access to OQEE, which offers 230 TV channels, replay services, and ASVOD content.
Pricing is competitive, starting at €29.99 per month for the first year, rising to €39.99 thereafter. This positions Free favorably against rivals like Orange and Bouygues Telecom. However, the service is limited to customers who do not have fiber access and have strong 5G coverage in their area.
Installation is straightforward, requiring only a connection to a power outlet. A pre-installed SIM card facilitates quick Wi-Fi access through a QR code provided in the package. Additional setup fees are €29, with Free offering to cover up to €50 in cancellation fees for users switching from other providers.
