Global e-commerce sales are projected to exceed $6.4 trillion in 2024, accounting for 20% of all retail purchases, according to Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE's minister of state for foreign trade. Speaking at the WORLDEF Dubai 2024 forum, he emphasized that e-commerce has become a pivotal force in the global economy, reshaping industries and consumer experiences over the past 25 years.
Mobile consumers are expected to contribute $2 trillion to these sales, reflecting the deep integration of digital trade into everyday life, fueled by widespread internet access and mobile usage. The forum, which gathers over 5,000 participants from more than 40 countries, highlights the growing significance of digital commerce on a global scale.
