Samsung has partnered with health tech company Eka Care to introduce a 'Health Records' feature on the Samsung Health app in India. This initiative supports the Indian government's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and aims to streamline healthcare management by allowing users to digitally access and manage their medical records.
Users can create an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) within the Samsung Health app using their Aadhaar or mobile numbers. Once registered, they can securely access their medical history, including prescriptions, lab results, and hospital visits, all linked to their unique ABHA IDs. This eliminates the need for physical paperwork and provides a comprehensive health management system.
The feature is supported by Samsung's R&D, UX design, and consumer experience teams, in collaboration with Eka Care. Co-founder Deepak Tuli noted that the partnership could accelerate the adoption of ABDM, stating, 'This collaboration is a key step toward building a more connected and efficient healthcare ecosystem in the country.'
Samsung's managing director, Kyungyun Roo, emphasized the focus on enhancing customer experiences, saying, 'The Health Records feature empowers users to manage their health history, track progress, and maintain better control over their well-being.'
Samsung has been expanding into the healthcare sector through various initiatives, including the introduction of the Galaxy Ring, designed for health monitoring, and the SmartThings Family Care service, which helps caregivers remotely support their loved ones.
Other tech companies, including Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft, are also offering healthcare solutions, as seen with Apollo Hospitals adopting Oracle Fusion for comprehensive ERP solutions.
Bengaluru-based Healthify, which raised $20M recently, leverages AI to personalize health coaching and tracking services.
