Mumbai, India - The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has launched VisionNxt, India's first AI and emotional intelligence-driven fashion forecasting platform. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Textiles, aims to provide innovative research and insights tailored to the Indian fashion and retail market.

Held on January 8, 2025, the event showcased how VisionNxt combines AI and emotional intelligence to develop a forecasting system that addresses the complexities of India's diverse fashion landscape. Its mission is to empower businesses, designers, and artisans to better understand and respond to consumer trends.

Prof. Dr. Sharmila J. Dua, Director of NIFT Mumbai, highlighted the platform's role in transforming the fashion industry, noting its bilingual trend book, Paridhi 24x25, and its indigenous AI deep learning model. She stated, 'Through collaborative research and innovation, VisionNxt empowers the industry with data-driven insights while celebrating India's unique fashion identity.'

Textile Commissioner Roop Rashi emphasized the platform's accessibility, stating it democratizes trend forecasting for Indian designers and artisans, providing them with affordable access to global and localized trends. With over 20,000 downloads, VisionNxt is bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern market needs.

Since its launch in September 2024, the platform has attracted over 23,000 visitors and delivered more than 60 fashion micro trend reports. VisionNxt has also created a dataset of over 70,000 primary apparel images to identify key trends in style, color, and regional influences, training over 800 students in trend spotting.
