Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced the launch of a new generation of foundational models, known as Amazon Nova, during the AWS re:Invent 2024 event. These models offer advanced artificial intelligence capabilities at a lower cost than competitors.
The Amazon Nova collection, available globally on Amazon Bedrock, includes four state-of-the-art models: Amazon Nova Micro, Amazon Nova Lite, and Amazon Nova Pro, which are currently available, while Amazon Nova Premier will launch in Q1 2025.
These models aim to democratize artificial intelligence by reducing costs and enhancing content generation capabilities, addressing challenges faced by developers with improvements in latency, cost, customization, and autonomous functionalities.
Additionally, AWS is enhancing its data centers for better energy efficiency, achieving a 46% reduction in energy consumption and a 35% reduction in carbon incorporated in concrete. These advancements are critical as data centers face increased loads driven by AI usage.
