Adobe Launches Free Tool to Protect Artists' Work from AI Training

Adobe has introduced a free web-based application aimed at protecting artists' work from being used to train artificial intelligence models without consent. This initiative comes in response to growing concerns among artists regarding copyright infringement as their creations can be incorporated into AI-generated outputs.

The new tool, named Content Credentials, allows creators to attach specific information to their images, videos, and audio, ensuring they receive proper credit and can opt-out of generative AI models. Scott Belsky, Adobe's Chief Strategy Officer, emphasized that this tool promotes transparency and trust in the digital ecosystem.

However, the effectiveness of Content Credentials relies on AI services adopting this feature. Content Credentials will automatically apply to content created using Adobe Creative Cloud apps, including Photoshop and Lightroom.

A public beta of the Adobe Content Authenticity web app is scheduled for release in Q1 2025, with a waitlist available for interested users. Additionally, a beta extension for Google Chrome is now accessible.
