Poll Reveals Distrust in AI for Election Information Among Americans

A recent poll indicates that approximately 64% of Americans do not trust AI-generated information regarding elections. Conducted by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, the survey highlights significant skepticism towards generative AI predictions.

About 43% of respondents believe that AI will complicate the search for factual information about presidential elections, while only 16% think it will make the process easier. This reflects growing concerns about the reliability of AI chatbots, which utilize vast amounts of data but lack human-like reasoning capabilities.

Moreover, 52% of those surveyed expressed worries about AI's potential to hinder access to verifiable data, contrasting with just 9% who feel optimistic about AI's role in disseminating information. The poll was conducted between July 29 and August 8, with a margin of error of +/- 4%.
