Bob Dylan's 'Mr. Tambourine Man' Drafts Up for Auction, Expected to Fetch $600K

Los Ángeles, CA – This week, Julien's Auctions will showcase a remarkable collection of items from music legend Bob Dylan, including the original drafts for his iconic hit "Mr. Tambourine Man." The auction is set to take place on January 18 at the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, coinciding with the release of the biographical film "A Complete Unknown" starring Timothée Chalamet.

Among the anticipated highlights are the three drafts of Dylan's first number-one single, which he refined while staying at the home of journalist Al Aronowitz in New Jersey. These pages, expected to sell for between $400,000 and $600,000, showcase significant changes from the initial to the final versions of the lyrics.

Also included in the auction are an original oil painting signed by Dylan in 1968, a re-recorded analog disc of "The Times They Are A-Changin'," and a promotional brochure from his first major solo concert in 1963. These items are part of Aronowitz's personal collection, who was known as the "godfather of rock journalism" and a close friend of Dylan.

Aronowitz's son, Myles, described his father's ability to connect with artists, stating that each item in the collection represents a piece of history. Dylan, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016, has sold over 125 million records throughout his career, solidifying his status as one of the most influential songwriters of all time.
