Michael Schumacher's Last Ferrari Up for Auction, Expected to Fetch Millions

The final Ferrari driven by Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher is set to be auctioned at Sotheby's in New York on Monday. The Ferrari 248 F1 was used during Schumacher's last season with the Italian car manufacturer in 2006.

During that season, the German driver won five races, surpassing Brazilian Ayrton Senna's record for the most qualifying wins—a record later broken by Lewis Hamilton.

Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, secured five of his titles with Ferrari from 2000 to 2004. The car, which was purchased directly from Ferrari by an anonymous buyer in December 2007, has been driven on Ferrari's test track in Fiorano several times since, although it hasn't been on the track for over a decade.

In 2022, another of Schumacher's Ferraris from the 2003 season was auctioned for nearly €15 million, approximately $16 million. A similar sum is anticipated for this auction.

After the 2006 season, Schumacher left the F1 circuit but made a return in 2010 with Mercedes, officially retiring in 2012. In 2013, he suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident, after which little public information about his health has been released, as his family has maintained strict privacy.
