The recent wildfires in California have led to a surge in the number of pets seeking shelter. With over 150,000 people evacuated, many pets are waiting in emergency shelters for their owners to return.

One woman, Cali, rushed to the Eaton Dam stable when evacuation orders were issued. She described it as the worst night of her life, fearing for her horses. Thankfully, she received reassuring news about her beloved horse, Seven.

Jennie Nevin, from the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, shared that their facility has become a temporary evacuation site for many animals, including horses, donkeys, and even pigs. She noted that while some animals have returned home, others remain in limbo.

Community support has been overwhelming, with many people donating supplies to help the displaced animals. Kevin Mcmanus from Pasadena Humane Society reported that they have taken in hundreds of animals, some of whom are injured. As the fires continue, the need for ongoing support is crucial.

Despite the challenges, there are heartwarming moments as families reunite with their pets. Mcmanus expressed that these reunions provide motivation to keep going amidst the devastation.
